About the Arcola Chamber of Commerce 

The Arcola Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting local businesses, promoting tourism, and fostering economic development throughout the community. Through collaboration and leadership, the Chamber serves as a vital connector between the business community, local government, and residents.


Governance and Meetings

The Chamber is governed by a Board of Directors, whose members are elected to serve 2- or 3-year terms. The Board meets on the second Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at Arcola City Hall, unless otherwise noted.


In addition to the Board and leadership roles, the Chamber is supported by 3–4 part-time employees who help ensure smooth day-to-day operations. These staff members:

  • Manage the opening and closing of the Chamber office
  • Maintain up-to-date membership records
  • Assist in collecting applications and supporting logistics for the Chamber’s signature event, the Broomcorn Festival

Chamber Structure
The Chamber’s daily operations and strategic initiatives are organized around three main leadership roles, each focused on a core area of service. These positions are stipend-based and are designed to ensure effective, ongoing progress in the Chamber’s mission.

Leadership Roles


1. Business Support, Growth, and Development

Currently held by: Mick Howrey

This position focuses on:

  • Promoting local businesses and organizing community-wide promotions
  • Supporting and advocating for current business owners
  • Leading efforts in economic development and growth

2. Administrative and Tourism

Currently held by: Hannah K. Myers

This position is responsible for:

  • Supporting the operation of the Board in partnership with the Board Chair
  • Managing all Chamber records and overseeing any personnel
  • Working with the City of Arcola and other organizations to promote Arcola and tourism initiatives

3. Broomcorn Festival

Currently held by: Angie Miller- 

This position oversees:

  • All planning, coordination, and execution of the annual Broomcorn Festival - Arcola’s signature community event
